830-Acre Fire In Waushara County 99% Contained The 830-acre Pallet Fire in Waushara County is now 99% contained. / Photo Credit: Wisconsin DNR COLOMA, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fire crews and local agencies are on the scene of the now roughly 830-acre Pallet Fire in Waushara County, southeast of Coloma. The fire is 99% contained. Three primary structures and 17 secondary structures have been lost.

Wisconsin DNR Announces Nonresident Hunting And Fishing License Fee Increase MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced a fee increase for many nonresident hunting and fishing licenses as a result of the final 2024-2025 budget enacted by Governor Tony Evers last week. The fee changes range from $5-$40 and are only for nonresidents. Licenses for the 2023-2024 season are valid through March 31, 2024.

DNR Retiring Hunt Wild Wisconsin Mobile App

App Users Encouraged To Use Online Hunting Resources   MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that as of June 29, 2023 the Hunt Wild mobile application will be retired. Instead, hunting and regulation resources can be found on the DNR’s Hunting webpage. The Hunt Wild mobile application was launched in 2018 to provide mobile access to hunting information.

Lehrer Condolences

Daniel Lehrer, Menasha …age 90, passed away at home on June 14, 2023, with his family at his side. In his retirement years, he enjoyed planting trees on the land he purchased from his father in Ogdensburg. He named a few trees for his children, mostly to keep track of the rows.  Family and time with nature became more important to Dan as he aged.

Kopitske Condolences

Shirley Kopitske, Bonduel… age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023.  Shirley became a tree farmer with her husband, Virgil, starting in 1960.  Virgil served as WWOA’s President from 1999-2001.  Shirley served as Secretary and President of the WWOA Wolf River Chapter.  She was a committee member of two WWOA Annual Meeting planning committees. Her Shioc River Tree Farm was a member of the American Tree Farm System.
