John “Jack” Bazile, Tigerton… age 87, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at Care Partners in Clintonville, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on January 2, 1938 on the family farm in the Town of Hunting and lived his entire life in the Tigerton area. In his early childhood, Jack spent much of his time timber cruising with his grandfather John Odell, where he learned his love of the woods, nature, and his Native American heritage. He joined the Army, the 32nd Red Arrow Division in 1961, and served during the Berlin Crisis. On a blind date, John met RoseMary Fournier, who would eventually become his wife. Jack was an assessor for over 40 years, operating Bazile Assessment Services with his wife Rosie.
Jack lived a full and active life, devoted to the land and the homestead he and Rosie built together. Their dedication was recognized when they were named Wisconsin Tree Farmers of the Year in 1984, followed by being honored as Regional Winners in 1986. They were proud, lifetime members of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association. Jack served on the WWOA Board of Directors from 1985-1994, serving two terms as Vice President from 1989-1990 and 1993-1994. He was also instrumental in the formation of WWOA’s Wolf River Chapter and served as chair for a number of years.
Jack was an active member of St. Anthony’s in Tigerton, where he served as an usher for many years. Jack was a proud member of the American Legion Post 239 in Tigerton.
Jack traveled extensively with his wife and family, sharing his deep love of hunting. He had several Boone and Crockett record trophies to his name. He hunted the mountains from Alaska to New Mexico. He passed on his passion for horses, the outdoors, rodeo, and so much more to his entire family. Above all, Jack’s greatest wish was for his love of the land to live on through the generations of his family.
