Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program sign up
USDA Authorizes Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program Signup FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 2, 2024Contact: Dan Richter, Public Information Officer, (608) 419-5352, dan.richter@wisconsin.gov MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) is reminding agricultural producers and private landowners to apply for the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP). Enrollment opened January 12 and applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until July 31, 2024, or until the acreage cap is met.

The WWOA Nomination Committee is looking for you or someone you know to fill four WWOA Board of Director positions that will become vacant at the close of the 2024 Annual Meeting in Marshfield this September. Directors whose terms are expiring are Randy Cooper, Dick Czaja, Ralph Heiser and Ken Kempfert.

Charlson Condolences
Glenn Charlson, Mountain … age 88, died peacefully Sunday, January 14, 2024 with family by his side. Glenn and wife, Ev, have been active members in the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, its Wolf River chapter, and after moving north to their woodlands, Phoenix Falls chapter. Ev and Glenn set out to create a sustainable forest from former, unmanaged cropland.
Shea Condolences
James Shea, Marinette and Wilsonville, OR…age 88, passed away December 13, 2023 at The Springs in Wilsonville, Ore., where he lived for the last few years. Jim was a quiet, thoughtful man, someone you could always count on. He loved spending time in nature…hunting, fishing, planting trees and taking care of the land. In 1998 he and his wife Lilli (deceased) built Sheady Pines, a bed and breakfast in Marinette, Wis.

Marek Condolences
Lonnie Marek, Wausau… age 82, passed away on February 26, 2023. He loved his wife, Peggy, and they had the deepest of bonds. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in a job well done. Lonnie was a kind, gentle, spiritual man.
