Marvin Lansing, Knapp and Eau Claire…age 92, died peacefully on March 5, 2025, surrounded by family in his assisted living apartment at Caretta Senior Living in Eau Claire.
Marvin was an educator, school administrator, and then became superintendent of schools in the Eau Claire School District. He began his 21-year tenure there in 1967. Fundamental to who he was, what he valued and how he believed educators succeed in serving students was giving personal attention to, and support of, the people who worked in the school system – in any job, be it principal, janitor, teacher, cook, administrator or coach. Throughout his adult life, Marv was very active in the community and a founder or member of many civic organizations. Marv served many years as the Chairman of the Town of Stanton in Dunn County. In 2012, Marv was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the UW-River Falls.
After retiring in 1990, Marv and Mag built a home on 120 acres north of Knapp, WI. The home and “the Land” in the Knapp Hills was the site of many family gatherings. After Mag died in 2005, Marv was fortunate to meet Nancy Kraft and they married in 2008. They enjoyed the Knapp house for many years before selling it and 10 of the acres and moving back to Eau Claire in 2016.
Memorials preferred to the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation or the Chippewa Valley Museum.
