Glenn Charlson, Mountain … age 88, died peacefully Sunday, January 14, 2024 with family by his side. Glenn and wife, Ev, have been active members in the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, its Wolf River chapter, and after moving north to their woodlands, Phoenix Falls chapter.
Ev and Glenn set out to create a sustainable forest from former, unmanaged cropland. They joined the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association (WWOA) where they found invaluable information and met many like-minded land stewards. Their hard work was recognized when they were chosen as the Wisconsin Tree Farmers of the Year in 1998, then North Central Region Tree Farmers of the Year in 2000. The tree farm became a place where family gathers to enjoy each other, the fruits of the woods, and the beauty of nature.
Glenn’s granddaughter Elizabeth Charlson Collins wrote a poem to honor him.
Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements and online condolences can be expressed at their website.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in honor of Glenn to Tabor Lutheran Church, the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association (WWOA), PO Box 285, Stevens Point, WI 54481, or plant a tree!
