Herdina Condolences

Gregory Herdina, Oshkosh – passed away January 18, 2021.  He was a life member of WWOA and volunteered at events in the Oshkosh area.  He also belonged to Trees For Tomorrow and American Tree Farm System.  Per his wishes, a private service will be held at a later date for immediate family.

Kramer Condolences

Donald Kramer, Madison – passed away on December 11, 2020.   In the past, Don served on WWOA’s Publications Committee and was active on the Bad Axe Chapter board.  His private Mass of Christian Burial can be viewed. A celebration of Don’s life is planned for a future and appropriate date.

Moberg Condolences

Helen Moberg, Nekoosa – passed away on January 21, 2021.  Helen served as the Wisconsin Woodland Owner’s Association’s Advertising Sales Consultant for Wisconsin Woodlands magazine from 1997-2020.  She was a very active and passionate WWOA volunteer.  In 1997, she and her husband, Ed, led a WWOA forestry trip to Sweden and Norway.

Joseph Mark Smith, Red Wing – passed away on August 9, 2020. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Memorials may be made in Joe’s name to the American Diabetes Association.

Thiel Condolences

James Thiel, St John – passed away on May 12, 2020.  He  involved his family in his love of tapping maple trees and making maple syrup from his woods.  A memorial fund has been established in his name.

DNR Confirms CWD Detected In Shawano County

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) confirms a wild deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD) in the Town of Germania in southwestern Shawano County, within 10 miles of Waupaca County. As required by state law, the DNR will renew the baiting and feeding bans in Shawano and Waupaca counties.

DNR Asks Public To Help Shape Deer Management In Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – Hunters, farmers, foresters and anyone interested in Wisconsin’s deer herd can help shape deer management in Wisconsin. Now through Jan. 13, 2021, the public is invited to comment on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) herd size objectives and deer management unit (DMU) boundaries for the next three years. Each County Deer Advisory Council (CDAC) has provided preliminary recommendations to increase, decrease or maintain herd size.

Elk Management Plan Open for Public Comment

NRCS Wisconsin Announces Deadline for 2021 Wetland Reserve and Agricultural Land Easement Programs

Madison, Wis., January 5, 2021 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Wisconsin has announced the fiscal year 2021 signup deadline is February 5, 2021, for Wetland Reserve Easement (WRE) and Agricultural Land Easement (ALE) applications. The 2018 Farm Bill has provided NRCS with technical and financial assistance to help private landowners, tribes, land trusts and other groups protect these valuable lands.
