Christy “Chris” Hauge, Eau Claire…passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022 after an extended illness.  Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.  The Hauges were instrumental in building WWOA during the time they lived in Antigo and Stevens Point.  Christy and his wife Betty (deceased in 2012) played an important part in WWOA and also the Chippewa Valley Chapter.  As a couple, they gave so much of their time and expertise to further WWOA’s mission. Chris was a WWOA Charter and Life member.  They were very active Chippewa Valley Chapter members.

Chris had a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Michigan Tech. He worked as a forester with the WI Conservation Department and served in Tomahawk, Wausau, and Antigo until 1964 when he transferred to UW extension.  From 1964 to 1983 he served as Forestry Agent and Forest Administrator in Antigo & was responsible for the Langlade Co Forest of 123,000 acres.  During this time he pursued his Masters Degree & received the first Master of Science Degree in Natural Resources from UW Stevens Point in 1974.  In 1983 he transferred to the UW Stevens Point to teach forestry to seniors & graduate students in the College of Natural Resources. Through of UW -Extension he worked with the WI Maple Syrup Producers Assoc., WWOA and private woodland owners.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be given in memory of Christy to Moments Hospice of Eau Claire LLC, 2263 East Ridge Center, Eau Claire, WI 54704.
