Having started in 2014, the WWOA-AmeriCorps partnership has expanded WWOA’s volunteer capacity, helping the organization accomplish its mission and goals.

AmeriCorps is a national service program sponsored by the federal government to assist communities in meeting their service needs. Marshfield Clinic has partnered with AmeriCorps and Volunteer Wisconsin to expand service opportunities in Wisconsin.

This year’s Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator is Anastasia. anastasia3

Greetings everyone! My time with WWOA kicked off at the Annual Meeting in Oshkosh, where I met many WWOA members and got a taste of what’s in store for the next year. I’m excited to work with you all over the next year, but first, I’d like to share a bit about myself with you.

I grew up in the heart of the Kettle Moraine on 20 acres of woods and wetlands surrounded by farm country. My favorite past time as a child was to run around our yard, pretending to be a wildland explorer with my brothers. Many trees were climbed, creeks crossed, butterflies chased, and acorns planted during my childhood.

My childhood experiences in the forest inspired me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry: Ecosystem Restoration from UW-Stevens Point. I completed my forestry degree and graduated in 2015 with a few minor studies in Spanish, Soil Science, and Wetland Ecology. During my time in school, I worked as a peer advisor in the College of Natural Resources and was involved with various student organizations including, Women in Natural Resources, Society of American Foresters, the Undergraduate Research Symposium Planning Committee, and a few others.

After graduation, I did a bit of travelling and hiking, to help me determine my next paths in life. Upon my return, I sought out the opportunity to work with people and contribute to environmental education, which led me to the position with WWOA. I am passionate about learning and in my free time, I enjoy baking, crafting, and most importantly, spending time outside.

Now that you’ve heard a little about me, I’d love to hear a little about you! If you’re interested in getting more out of your membership by becoming more involved with WWOA, please contact me and we will find an opportunity that fits you.
